Japan-Russia summit talks leave Putin’s true intentions unclear

The Yomiuri Shimbun Patiently holding frequent talks between the Japanese and Russian leaders may be the only way to reach an agreement on the bilateral issue of the northern territories. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey. The meeting was the 12th of its kind between the two leaders, going back to the days after Abe formed his first Cabinet. However, the talks seem to lack adequate results.
